The Good Guys Take:
The 2017 Merlot is something of a revelation. In part because South African Merlot is often underwhelming. But there are some sites where it really shines, and this is one of them. This wine is deep and dark, yet soft and refreshing. It shows the very best of this variety.
Platters Guide: 4.5/5 stars
The Keermont Merlot 2017 has a deep royal red colour. Ripe red fruit and liqueur cherry aromas are complimented by dark chocolate, leather and mint notes. The palate is soft, but elegant and refreshing. The wine exudes flavours of ripe red fruit with undertones of cocoa, herbs and thatch. Tight chalky tannins and good natural acidity help to maintain a fresh elegance and a long, succulent dry finish. Best drinking: 2020-2028.
